Last year we were introducing a few of our Engineers, representing various Peikko Units. And this year we want to focus on our production people – the hands, which make Peikko products and carry the final responsibility for making our Customers happy with our quality.
We will be introducing people from different Peikko Production Units and in this article please meet Balázs Csillag and Szabolcs Gál from Peikko Hungary.
BALÁZS CSILLAG, TEAM LEADER
When did you start in Peikko and what is your job in Peikko about?
I started in April 2012 at Ebea Kft (Peikko's legal predecessor). At that time I was on the BEWA assembly line, after a year I became the team leader. During the years I worked on the KP (EBEA) assembly line, I was a forklift driver, too. When I was a friction welder I went back to school because I wanted to be a welder. I sucessfully obtained the International qualification and worked as a welder for 2 years. Now I'm the team leader of intralogistics team. My tasks are to lead and organise my team, supplying raw materials to the assembly lines, handle the plate cutting scissors, loading/unloading the trucks and so on.
What do you like most about your job?
I can use my my knowledge, my job is interesting and the team is friendly.
What is going well in your team that you would like to mention?
I have creative colleagues, we hold together and count on each other.
What was the biggest challenge in your Peikko work so far and how did you solve it?
I face many small challenges rather than big ones. During my Peikko career I gained a lot of experience in different positions, I can use them in daily work. Maybe I would highlight adapting to a diverse workplace.
What are your biggest interests outside working life?
We often go to the cinema, to rock concerts but unfortunately due to the COVID they were left behind. From time to time, we make trips. I am a big football fan, I waited a lot for the European Football Championship.
SZABOLCS GÁL - FOREMAN
When did you start in Peikko and what is your job in Peikko about?
I was employed by Peikko on 18.11.2019 as a Production Planner. It was a big change for me as I had previously worked in the Police Department and after 13 of service, I had hung my uniform of the chief master sergeant on a nail. At Peikko Hungary I started with a new excitement in learning tasks, which were new for me. So, when I was asked to fill the foreman position after 2 months, I was surprised and had to consider a lot of things. After all, I used to deal with people but with this position I need a wide range of knowledge to carry out the shift and people management.
Finally, I accepted the offer and on 06.01.2020 and I became a foreman of Peikko.
What do you like most about your job?
I like that it is versatile, there is an opportunity to propose and implement innovative ideas. I haven' t experienced this before and I am happy if an innovation is carried out reasonably, considering the needs, insights and experiences of employees. Unfortunately, there are cases when circumstances tie our hands, but we try to get the most out of the situation. I like the teamwork as we find solutions and solve tasks by supporting each other, working together.
What is going well in your team that you would like to mention?
To be honest, I am proud of my team, my colleagues. They are good people, most of them have been employed by the company for a long time and in many cases I can rely on their professional knowledge and preparedness. Of course, there are smaller or bigger problems but in community, built on rules, these will be solved together.
What was the biggest challenge in your Peikko work so far and how did you solve it?
The biggest challenge in my job was improving morale, which I felt was not high in the beginning. I started from a difficult situation. As a new person with little technical knowledge, I needed a lot of energy to understand if it was necessary to modify the existing rules. I had to learn about products. But the most important was to get to know my team and to be able to solve their problems.
I think it's very important for people to feel that they are taken care of. Unity is important me, I want to work in a team where we support each other. I would like to create a workplace where employees can work long, even until retirement. Therefore, I try to support them and solve the arising problems.
I have to say that morale has increased in the last year, although there is still a lot to do and I cannot do that alone.
The introduction of Axapta also caused many difficulties during the last year. Our staff is elderly they have harder time managing computers, so I try to help them with day-to-day trainings. We made an educational booklet - compiled a barcode-based manual, and plan to introduce Kanban card system based on this manual.
What are your biggest interests outside working life?
In my free time I like reading and writing novels, short stories, repairing furniture, woodworking, drawing and work-out. My wife and I love to go hiking in nature, we used to dance folk dances in the past. In our family we are preparing for a big change, our first baby arrives in this year.
